Construction workers are among the top five fastest-growing jobs by 2030, according to the World Economic Forum.

The Future of Jobs 2025 report, released by the World Economic Forum, concludes that the global labor market is being reshaped by technological advancements, the green transition, and economic and demographic changes.

Around 170 million new jobs will be created this decade due to global macro trends. The report, which analyzes the future of work over the next five years, indicates that these newly created positions account for 14% of the current workforce. At the same time, 92 million jobs will be displaced by these same trends. This results in a net increase of 78 million jobs.

The report is based on interviews with more than 1,000 of the world's largest employers, covering 22 industry clusters and representing over 14 million workers. It cross-references company estimates with employment data from the International Labour Organization and lists the 15 professions expected to see the highest net growth, as well as those projected to decline the most.

The fastest-growing jobs are primarily essential roles for many economies. Agricultural workers top the list. Green transition trends, including efforts to reduce carbon emissions and adapt to the climate crisis, will drive growth, creating an additional 34 million jobs by 2030, adding to the current 200 million agricultural workers, according to the World Economic Forum.

Expanding digital access and the rising cost of living also contribute to job growth.

Delivery drivers, software developers, construction workers, and retail salespeople round out the top five fastest-growing jobs.

Food processing workers are also among the fastest-growing occupations, while care-related jobs—including nurses, social workers, and counseling professionals—are expected to see significant growth in the next five years. This can be attributed to demographic trends, particularly the aging workforce, the report states.
